Additional donations beyond membership help DOAM make more progress towards achieving the mission of the organization. You can make a donation to support the general operations of the organization or you can designate your donation to a special project. Our current special project is:
- Organic Certification cost share – The cost of getting certified organic to standards that allow for export is approximately $1000 US per farm. DOAM is seeking funds to assist growers by covering at least 75% of this cost through donations. There are at least 10 growers in Dominica who are ready to take this step and your support will make it financially possible for them to do so. We’re also working to build capacity in Dominica to perform inspections, which will reduce the cost of certification.
At this point, DOAM does not have the ability to provide a tax deductable receipt for your donation so we have turned to our long-term partner, Florida Association of Volunteers Active in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA). When you click on “Make a Donation”, it will take you to the donation page for FAVACA and you can make a donation directly to DOAM and receive the tax receipt from FAVACA.
