About Us

DOAM aims to enhance the minds and skills of all its members and individuals.

The Dominica Organic Agriculture Movement Inc. (DOAM Inc.) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered in Dominica as a limited liability company. DOAM Inc. was formed in January 2006 by a cross section of primary stakeholders who are farmers and traders in the organic food production industry and is governed by an Executive Committee. Any person, institution, or firm committed to the vision of developing a sustainable organic industry is eligible for membership.

DOAM Inc. seeks to coordinate programs and activities for the holistic development of the local organic industry and assist various organic oriented organizations related to the sustainable development of the Industry in Dominica.

One of the primary aims of DOAM Inc.  is to ensure that foods grown under certifiable organic conditions are marketed effectively and efficiently locally,  regionally  and internationally.

DOAM Vision Statement

DOAM’s vision is for a sustainable food system in Dominica that is based on organic practices, fair trade and labour policies, and food security for all of its citizens.

DOAM Mission Statement

DOAM will facilitate the development of a sustainable food system in Dominica through strategic education, organizing, and business development activities.

DOAM Goals include:

  • Support the establishment of organic compost and input supply centers in the seven agricultural regions
  • Develop a plan for attracting young persons as organic farmers and members of DOAM
  • Initiate the process of spreading the movement through the schools
  • Create farmer support systems for labor and finance
  • Organize and incubate a farmer based distribution system
  • Excellence in the dissemination of carefully analyzed information among members and throughout the various farming catchment zones on traditional, current and new developments in organic production, processing and marketing.
  • Development and strengthening formal and informal networks for exchange/dissemination of information
